OPI: Jeremy Scott and Creatures of Comfort

I am sure you would agree that nails have become just as important as hair and makeup at the shows. I have always been a fan of the nail looks on the runway and find it to be a wonderfully creative outlet when I do it on my own talons!

Below are the nail looks from Jeremy Scott and Creatures of Comfort:

NARS: Backstage Beauty at SUNO SS16

NARS created the look for the SUNO SS’16 runway show.

SHOW: SUNO SS’16

LEAD ARTIST: James Boehmer, NARS Director of Global Artistry

LOOK: “The inspiration for the collection centers on the sense of order art can bring to one’s life – this idea of SUNO’s own language of geometric shapes, orders and textures. The beauty look connects this order with the chaotic, slightly undone. It’s like the rainbow after the rain - I thought of how rubbing away tears can create a beautiful illumination of the eye. The skin was kept fresh, simply transparent and clean. Lip glosses were used to create the color and shine, circling the eye to give the effect of freshly rubbed tears and provide a bit of warmth and gloss to the cheekbones. The lip was toned down and matte to create contrast to the eye.”

Rodarte: Backstage Hair with Odile Gilbert for Kérastase

HAIR: Odile Gilbert for Kérastase Paris

INSPIRATION

The hair look was inspired by natural beauty, a world often captured by the words of poets, according to Kate and Laura Mulleavy. With this theme in mind, Odile worked with the personality and unique beauty of each model. She parted the hair the way they typically wear it and gave each model the creative freedom to place the floral barrette wherever they pleased. The placement of the hair accessories was left purposefully unpredictable to pique interest and create variety throughout the show. All hair was worn down, but unique, allowing the models’ personalities to shine through.

GET THE LOOK

All products are available on Kerastase-USA.com

1. Start with damp hair.

2. For added texture and body, spray Powder Bluff, on the roots and in between all layers of hair. For medium/thick hair textures, apply a liberal amount of Crème de la Crème on hair to help control the look.

3. Next, roughly blow-dry hair using fingers which allows for a natural finish. Twirl strands of hair with fingers throughout, as necessary, for subtle texture.

4. Find the hair’s natural part using fingers or the end of comb, then place the hair accessory in different unexpected places for an avant-garde, playful look.

5. Secure placement of hair accessories by fastening with bobby pins.

6. Finish the style with Laque Dentelle for a flexible, natural hold.

SHOW: 3.1 Phillip Lim SS‘16

LEAD ARTIST: Francelle Daly for NARS Cosmetics

LOOK: “The skin is organic, clean, simple, earthy and real. Look at the environment of the set, mounds of organic earth and the smell overwhelms you of nature, I wanted that to read in the makeup. The girls have a light wash of matte foundation and stick concealer, so the skin reads naked and natural. NARS created the look for the Mansur Gavriel SS‘16 runway show.

SHOW: Mansur Gavriel SS‘16

LEAD ARTIST: James Boehmer, NARS Director of Global Artistry

LOOK: “The presentation is like an immaculate accessories floor in an imagined department store, the whole space is bathed in a dusty mauve color, with shop girls and clients trying the new collection. The collection features textiles designed by Alexander Girard, the mid-century interior designer and architect from the late 50’s, early 60’s. To reference the 60's without being too literal, we did chunky ‘Twiggy’ lashes and a fresh, blushes look on the ‘clients.’”

NARS created the look for the Opening Ceremony SS‘16 runway show.

SHOW: Opening Ceremony SS‘16

LEAD ARTIST: James Boehmer, NARS Director of Global Artistry

LOOK: “The collection was inspired by the unfinished projects of the architect Frank Lloyd Wright so it has a lot of graphic elements - sharp tailoring and cutouts with architectural edges. There is also this botanical element to the presentation, so we talked about the idea of hothouse flowers, a botanical green house with moisture and condensation on the skin. The look is really controlled, beautiful sweat - nude, muted lip with very glossy skin.”

Jason Wu: Odile Gilbert for Kérastase Paris

HAIR: Odile Gilbert (odilegilbert_official) for Kérastase Paris (@kerastaseusa) for Jason Wu (@jasonwu).

INSPIRATION

The inspiration behind the look was mid-century modernism. Odile created a new version of the Chignon, featuring a slicked back style, set at back of head, perfectly in between ears. The resulting look was a very sleek Chignon with a wet-look finish. The exposed neck added a hint of sex appeal without being too overstated.

GET THE LOOK

*All products are available at www.kerastase-usa.com

1. Start the look with dry hair.

2. Spray Matérialiste to the palms of hands and apply to roots of hair to add texture.

3. Take liberal amount of Crème de la Crème from root to shaft and slick hair back until it's smooth and shiny.

4. Brush hair back using fingers to give a trace of texture and leave "finger tracks".

5. Gather hair slightly higher than the nape of the neck and at a height in line with the ears.

6. Next, pull hair back to a ponytail, split the hair into two sections and twist hair to create a modern chignon and secure with multiple elastics for added texture.

7. Finish the style with Laque Dentelle for a sleek, wet look.

Creatures of the Wind: Get The Look from NARS

NARS created the look for the Creatures of the Wind SS‘16 runway show and who doesn't remember the singer Siouxsie Sioux and that glorious band of eye color? If you don't know who she was, you will soon as this year's beauty look for Creatures of the Wind (@creaturesofthewind) was inspired by her and created on the models by Lead Artist Aaron de Mey (@aarondemey1) for NARS (@narsissist).

SHOW: CREATURES OF THE WIND SS‘16

LEAD ARTIST: Aaron de Mey for NARS Cosmetics

LOOK: “The look was inspired by singer, Siouxsie Sioux. She always had a very strong eye look - it had the same spirit, but was applied differently each time. The look is very eclectic with a lot of layering, which plays off the layering in the collection. It's punk, tough looking. I loved the richness of the gold against the toughness of the black. It’s an updated, modernized take on eyeliner.”

Rachel Comey: Get The Look

Yes, NYFW is in full swing and below are the looks from Rachel Comey's show last night. James Pecis for Beauty.com on Hair, Romy Soleimani for Beauty.com on both Skincare and Makeup and Nonie Creme for Colour Prevails on Nails! What a great team I must say, simply wonderfully creative indeed!

RACHEL COMEY

Hair: James Pecis for Beauty.com using PHYTO
Makeup: Romy Soleimani for Beauty.com using bareMinerals
Skincare: Romy Soleimani for Beauty.com using Jurlique
Nails: Nonie Creme using Colour Prevails

INSPIRATION: Desert, Post-Apocalyptic Warrior

GET THE LOOK: HAIR

· Prep the hair with Phytovolume Actif Volumizing Spray and rough dry it in. The goal is to get added volume and texture into the hair.

· Roughly go through the hair section by section, adding in the Phyto Professional Matte Texturizing Paste. This will give the hair the tackiness to hold the look together.

· Divide the hair into five sections: one at the top, one on each side and two in the back.

· Within each of these sections, pull the hair back and tie the hair into square knots. The result will look like a knot-braid, which will be secured with an elastic hair band at the end.

· Finish by misting Phytolaque Soie Hairspray to keep in place.

GET THE LOOK: SKINCARE

· Prep the skin by lightly misting the Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mistto tone. Apply a layer of the Jurlique Calendula Redness Rescue Soothing Moisturizing Cream moisturizer on the skin. Prep the lips by dabbing on the Jurlique Rose Love Balm.

· Additional product for addressing specific skincare concerns per model include: Jurlique Purely Age-Defying Firming Face Oil, Jurlique Rose Moisture Replenishing Day Cream, Jurlique Herbal Recovery Advanced Eye Serum, Jurlique Purely Bright Eye Correcting Cream, Jurlique Lavender Silk Finishing Powder.

GET THE LOOK: MAKEUP

· To create a smooth and perfect canvas, apply the bareMinerals Pure Brightening Serum Foundation to the skin, followed by a dusting of the bareMinerals Original Foundation.

· Color in the brows with the bareMinerals Frame & Define Brow Styler. Use the built-in brush to groom the brows upwards.

· To lightly mute the lips, apply a little foundation on top of the Jurlique Rose Love Balm.

· LOOK 1

To create the graphic black/messy and “lived-in” eye look, apply the bareMinerals Round the Clock Intense Cream-Glide Eyeliner over the entire eye lid and extend slightly outward into a wing. This is meant to appear messy and move around a bit.

Apply multiple coats of the bareMinerals Lash Domination Volumizing Mascara on the top lashes.

· LOOK 2
Lightly dust the bareMinerals Ready Bronzer that’s mixed with a taupe shade from the bareMinerals Ready Eyeshadow 8.0 Palette in Power Neutrals in the crease to create a soft halo of color. Then create graphic shapes using the bareMinerals Blue Eyecolor Eyeshadow in Snowflake while wet and bareMinerals Lasting Line Long-Wearing Eyeliner in black in the corner of the eyes.

· LOOK 3

On one eye, use the bareMinerals Liner Shadow in Onyx wet with the very fine tipped bareMinerals Gorgeous Glide Liner Brush to wrap around the eye into a wing, also bringing it to a point in the inner corner and slightly under the bottom inner corner. No mascara will be used for this look.

Use bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lip Liner in Energized to create a line above black liner.

On the other eye apply the black liner, extending both inward and outward, and then use the peach- tone to add a circle under the eye for a pop of abstract color.

· LOOK 4

This very natural looks was created by using a mix of the bareMinerals Ready Bronzer and taupe shades from bareMinerals Ready Eyeshadow 8.0 Palette in Power Neutrals for subtle definition on the eyes and cheeks.

GET THE LOOK: NAILS

· The manicures will have a lighter custom blend of Nonie Creme Colour Prevails Nail Lacquer in Frenemy and Nonie Creme Colour Prevails Nail Lacquer in Wardrobe Staple while the pedicures will have a darker blend.
