L'Oreal USA launches Beaumoji TODAY!

Breaking News: Today, L'Oréal USA introduces Beaumoji, the most extensive emoji keyboard dedicated to all things beauty. They keyboard offers 130 emojis representing the latest trends in makeup, skin and hair, inspired by and created for the fast-growing community of digital beauty enthusiasts.

The emojis will be organized into five categories including:

·It Girl: Featuring illustrations of current beauty trends like ombré lips and pastel hair

·Pampered Life: Highlighting characters indulging in beauty experiences

·Iconic: Showcasing cult-favorite beauty products such as the Urban Decay NAKED Palette, Clarisonic, Maybelline New York Great Lash Mascara, and L'Oréal Paris Elnett Hairspray

The keyboard will be fully integrated into texting platforms and is available for free download on both Android and iOS here: http://bit.ly/BeaumojiKB. The innovation is a joint effort among brands in the L'Oréal USA family, driven by the growth of beauty-oriented conversations on mobile. The keyboard will be updated seasonally with new emojis to reflect evolving beauty trends.

More about the launch... L’Oréal USA today announced the launch of “Beaumoji,” the most extensive messaging keyboard designed to enhance and animate conversations around the world of beauty. The keyboard offers 130 playful and on-trend emojis created exclusively for the passionate and growing community of beauty enthusiasts.

Once downloaded, the Beaumoji keyboard is organized into categories including ‘It Girl,’ which features illustrations of current beauty trends like the ombré lip and pastel hair, ‘Pampered Life’ with characters indulging in beauty experiences, alongside symbols of ‘Iconic’ L’Oréal-brand products, such as Urban Decay’s beloved Naked palette and Maybelline New York Great Lash mascara. Beaumoji also features categories titled ‘beYOUtiful’ which encourages users to embrace their personal style and express their unique beauty stories, and ‘Love’ which includes icons and gestures to express enthusiasm for all things beauty.

Beginning today, the keyboard will be available for free on both iOS and Android, and consumers can expect seasonal upgrades with new emojis to reflect evolving beauty trends.

To celebrate the announcement, L’Oréal is also unveiling an emoji design contest, inviting consumers to create and submit their own Beaumoji using the hashtag #BeaumojiContest which will be judged by a panel of top beauty influencers. Three winners will receive a trip to New York City for a one-night stay and VIP ticket to Beautycon Festival New York (October 1st), where their Beaumoji will be revealed live on stage alongside some of the industry’s most admired beauty influencers and in front of thousands of beauty industry enthusiasts.

L’Oréal USA was inspired to create Beaumoji by the growth of beauty-oriented conversations on mobile and through social messaging. Social platforms like YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram and Snapchat have completely transformed the way consumers learn about, engage with and relate to the beauty industry. By leveraging social listening tools, L’Oréal saw a surge in these online conversations and the use of the few relevant emojis currently available like the Unicode lipstick and nail polish icons. L’Oréal’s mission was to fill the gap between the growing desire to communicate in new ways about beauty and the visual tools available to best illustrate it.

We know the online conversation around beauty is hugeand continuing to spike along with the shorthand language of emojis. We saw an opportunity to provide expressions and tools for our beauty community that reflect the daily conversations we see happening,” said Rachel Weiss, Vice President of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at L'Oréal USA. “With Beaumoji, our goal is to provide emojis that beauty enthusiasts crave and speak to their unique passions, lifestyles and personalities.”

Beaumoji is the latest effort in L’Oréal’s ongoing digital and technology innovation strategy. Other recent innovations include the Makeup Genius virtual makeup app and the My UV Patch skin sensor app—launched at the Consumer Electronics Show earlier this year. The company is dedicated to continue innovating on mobile in order to provide passionate consumers with the newest ways to communicate and experience beauty in the digital age.

The Beaumoji keyboard was created in partnership with Snaps, the first end-to-end platform for brand marketing across messaging applications and devices. Beaumoji will be available for free in both iOS and Android app stores.

Follow @beaumoji_ on Instagram for more information on the Beaumoji Design Contest.

*Once again, to celebrate the launch, L'Oréal USA is offering consumers the chance to design their own emoji to be added to the keyboard. Winners will be selected by a panel of the top influencers in beauty, and flown to BeautyCon NY in October for the unveiling of their designs. (Additional contest details can be found on beaumojicontest.com).

Hair Trend Alert: Pink Tips, Ruby Red Hues and More

Move over beach blonde and sun-kissed highlights… pink, red, and burgundy are now the hottest hair color hues this summer. As seen on celebrities such as Bella Hadid, Bella Thorne, Lily Collins and Sarah Hyland, these new shades allow for a playful take on the typical ‘do.

Photos above courtesy of their prospective Instagram feeds.

To shed light on the new trend, we tapped Kérastase Paris Consulting Hairstylist, Matt Fugate and L’Oréal Paris Celebrity Colorist, Kari Hill to share their haircare expertise. Below, please see Matt & Kari’s tips, as well as a list of at-home coloring kits and a curated selection of haircare products designed to help prolong and protect color.

HAIR COLOR

EXPERT TIPS:

· “If you look at your Instagram you will see that pastels and muted watercolors are super-hot right now. These soft, pretty pastel shades allow for you to take a little bit of a leap and try a brand new hair color that you might have not explore before. I have found that so many of my clients come in and want to do little touches of pastel color – peekaboo’s, highlights, ombré, etc. It is fun to play with the different options!” – Kari Hill, L’Oréal Paris Celebrity Colorist

· “Doing a summer hair color change is great. It can completely change your skin tone by adding warmth to otherwise stark skin tones which is better than a fake tan any day. When adding pastel tones to your hair can soften the appearance of dry over-processed blondes. Afraid to take the leap? Test the trend first with temporary colors that you can play with before committing to a hue.” – Matt Fugate, Kérastase Paris Consulting Hairstylist

Garnier Pink Pop

Color Styler can be used on all hair colors, types and textures. It also works on chemically treated and colored hair. The color result and length of time that it lasts may vary depending on your current hair color and condition. Color Styler is Intense Wash-Out Color with Revolutionary Color Coat Technology. The clay-based pigmented formula creates a thin color-coat on the surface of hair without damaging it. When dry, color does not rub off or stain clothes.

Price: $7.99, Available at mass retailers nationwide or garnierusa.com

L’Oréal Paris Launches New Campaign: #WorthSaying

Announcing a new L’Oréal Paris campaign – called #WorthSaying – launching during this weekend’s Golden Globes awards. It is designed to propel the cultural shift happening around red carpet conversations and encourages women on the carpet – and off – to share words they believe are worth saying.

The night of the Golden Globes, the brand’s powerhouse roster of celebrity spokeswomen, which includes Julianne Moore, Karlie Kloss, Eva Longoria, Frieda Pinto and Liya Kebede, along with brand experts and social influencers, will band together as catalysts for change and spark dialogue by putting forward their own words #WorthSaying on Twitter.

Women everywhere are invited to take part in the conversation on Twitter during the broadcast on Sunday, January 10, 2016 from 5:00pm EST – 11:00pm EST by tagging @LorealParisUSA and using #WorthSaying.

L’Oréal Paris believes women’s lips can be bold in more ways than one. For the first time, L’Oréal Paris is leveraging its red carpet authority and broadcast sponsorship of the 2016 Golden Globes to go beyond beauty with the launch of the #WorthSaying campaign.

The campaign is rooted in the brand’s iconic tagline  “Because You’re Worth It” and the belief that all women have something worthy to say. The brand recognizes the importance of the powerful words of women everywhere, so their most-worthy conversations reach, affect and inspire as many other women as possible. In fact, according to new research from the brand, 3 in 4 women agree that powerful and motivating language makes them believe they can accomplish whatever they set their mind to, and the majority of women agree that powerful and motivating language gives them a stronger sense of self-worth.

Via a live social command center, the brand will purposefully spotlight and amplify the meaningful sentiments women are expressing on the red carpet and in social media by selecting posts and sharing them on L’Oreal Paris’ social platforms and in digital advertising, further elevating women’s voices.

The campaign also will debut customized television billboards, banner ads and online videos, all in an effort to inspire women to join the #WorthSaying conversation and further elevate women’s voices to an unprecedented level.

STROBING: Products to Help Luminate Your Skin

Strobing is one of the season’s hottest makeup techniques. I have seen it everywhere I look- magazine articles, Social Media feeds, etc. and it caught my interest for sure. It appears to be easier than contouring for some and truly appears to highlight your features.

"The name ‘Strobing’ is new, but the technique itself is not. Strobing is great for minimalists and it doesn't take as much experience as contouring. The technique is less artistry. You only need your fingers and a great highlighter," says L'Oréal Paris Celebrity Makeup Artist, Sir John.

Below is a curated list of top products to master this coveted luminous and glowing look...

PREP THE FACE

It’s important to start with skincare that helps create a luminous complexion. You feel a little sexier when your skin has a nice glow. I like something that’s rich in texture or has SPF to help give skin a light reflective quality.” – L’Oréal Paris Celebrity Makeup Artist, Sir John

By Terry Cellularose Hydradiance Serum

This intensely hydrating serum and radiance booster targets the skin’s irrigation system to reactivate the radiance. The skin is “reset” as soon as the serum is applied for a brighter over-all look. This serum instantly provides soothing hydration to even the most dehydrated and lifeless skin.

Price: $116, Available at B-glowing.com

L’Oréal Paris Youth Code Skin Illuminator All-in-One Moisturizer

NEW Youth Code Skin Illuminator All-in-One Moisturizer is a daily treatment designed to provide women with everything needed to combat fatigue and uneven skin tone, in just one step. Upon application, the capsules act to help match skin tone perfectly, and give skin an instant glow going on to correct signs of fatigue, erasing dark circles, and illuminating dull tones in just minutes.

Price: $17.99, Available at drugstores and mass retailers nationwide

Meaningful Beauty® Antioxidant Day Crème SPF 20 Broad Spectrum

This lightweight day crème is fortified with the Exclusive Microencapsulated Melon Complex action vitamin C, Bearberry extract and broad-spectrum SPF. A cocktail of powerful antioxidants, it works to brighten the complexion to create the perfect canvas for strobing.

Price: $45, sold separately by calling 1-877-383-1212 or available at MeaningfulBeauty.com as part of the 5-piece New Advanced System ($39.95 plus s/h for 30 day supply). Preferred Customer: $34.95

Proactiv+ Liquid SPF

The Proactiv+ Liquid SPF is an ultra-weightless and fast absorbing sunscreen that helps to boost skin’s radiance, even skin tone and moisturize for a silky smooth, matte finish. The SPF 15 sunscreen helps protect skin without clogging pores, offering sun protection without a heavy, sticky or white residue. Suitable for all skin types, the Liquid SPF incorporates bisabolol, an antioxidant that helps alleviate redness and blotchiness caused by irritation, witch hazel to help minimize the appearance of pores, and a mulberry, green tea and peptide blend to help promote bright skin, radiant-looking skin.

Price: $34.95 for regular shipment members, Retail Price (Non-Member): $56.00, Available at proactivcatalog.com or by calling 1-888-710-2161

LOOKING FOR LIQUID?

I love a cream or liquid illuminator because you can easily apply with a finger. I always apply with my ring finger because it’s the weakest finger that picks up the least amount of product. To apply, start with the high point of the cheekbone, center of the nose, followed by above the Cupid’s bow. You can apply down the center or the face and even on the collarbone to usher in more light. With a liquid, you can easily build and blend to create the perfect, pearlescent look. ” – L’Oréal Paris Celebrity Makeup Artist, Sir John

Cover FX Custom Cover Drops

Custom Cover Drops are the perfect base for a luminous look. They are pure pigments that allow you to customize any product in your beauty regimen and control the level of coverage, making them ideal for Strobing. Custom Cover Drops can be mixed with anything liquid – moisturizers, serums, oils, primers, foundations, and more – to turn them into custom makeup. These revolutionary drops feature Flash Fusion™ technology, so as soon as you drop, everything but the pure pigment flashes off, weightlessly transforming your favorite beauty product in the palm of your hand. It’s simple to use – just place your favorite luminizing moisturizer into the palm of your hand, DROP in Custom Cover Drops, MIX with your fingertips and TRANSFORM into perfect customized coverage, from a sheer tint (1 drop) to a full coverage foundation (4 drops).

Price: $44, Available in 24 shades at Sephora, Sephora.com and CoverFX.com

L’Oréal Paris True Match Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator

With specially formulated technology for true high-intensity results and a pearlescent finish, the L’Oréal Paris True Match Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator brightens the skin instantly from within. Light-reflecting liquids glide on to refresh and enhance the complexion for a luminous result.

Price: $12.99, Available at drugstores and mass retailers nationwide

Urban Decay NAKED Skin Beauty Balm in Illuminating

Introducing NAKED Skin Beauty Balm in Illuminating – with the same amazing benefits as the original lightweight all-in-one formula, it contains champagne-colored pearls that give skin a gorgeous, radiant look. Use it to “strobe” key features under foundation, or on your entire face for an all-over glow. Like the existing shades, NAKED Illuminating blurs flaws in seconds, provides serious anti-aging benefits in just 8 weeks, and diffuses light with high-tech pigments to give you amazing, natural, NAKED-looking skin as it perfects, protects, treats, primes and hydrates. The formula contains Pepha®-Protect (derived from watermelon extract), which is rich in vitamins, and amino acids like citrulline that help guard skin against daily stress. High-tech ingredients like Vitasource™ and dGlyage® firm skin, improve elasticity and provide measurable anti-aging benefits. SPF 20 shields skin from sun damage, while optical blurring pigments diffuse light to blur flaws.

Price: $34, Available at Sephora, ULTA, select Macy’s, Sephora.com, Ulta.com, Macys.com, Beauty.com and UrbanDecay.com

PREFER A POWDER?

FLOWER Glisten Up! Highlighter Chubby

Get your glow on with this new sheer illuminating highlighter for cheekbones and eyes. The silky formula provides a brightening effect and luxurious finish as it perfectly lights up the face with a subtle sheen. Can be used over makeup or alone for a natural glow. Shades: Pearl Shimmer, Gold Coaster, Honey Bronze

Price: $9.98, Available at Walmart and Walmart.com

Laura Geller Baked Gelato Illuminator

Brighten your natural beauty with this innovative illuminator. The hybrid texture applies like a sheer powder but feels like a cream, creating a translucent wash of luminous color that can be swept all over the face, leaving skin looking healthy and radiant with a luminous finish. A fresh 3-D design captures the look of your favorite Italian dessert, and lasts until the very last application. Like all of the Baked products, Baked Gelato begins as swirls of liquid pigments that are baked for 24 hours on terracotta tiles and finished by hand in Italy. Because Baked products are made without additional fillers or binder, the colors are more vibrant and feel weightless on the skin. Available in two shades: Gilded Honey (effervescent caramel honey) and Ballerina (candlelit, warm rose gold).

L’Oréal Paris True Match Lumi Powder Glow Illuminator

The formula is based on undertone to enhance and harmonize the tone while adding the accent of light and glow in more of a highlighting and blushing effect.

L' Oreal Paris: Experts Guide To Choosing Flattering Colors This Winter

First let me start by saying that I often call the L'Oreal Paris color hotline as I have been known to color my hair the wrong shade or tone when I get the sudden itch to do it on my own. Just a few months back, I decided to try a new color and went a silvery grey, that was beautiful, only I used it on my bangs and my hair looked ridiculous when worn down.

Choosing the most flattering hair color, nail polish and lipstick can be a challenge. Skin tone fluctuates throughout the year, so a color that looks phenomenal in the summer could easily make you look tired and washed out in the winter.

Fortunately for us all, L’Oréal Paris experts Kari Hill, Tom Bachik (yes, my daughter and I have been watching Tom as a judge on the Oxygen show "Nail'd It" for weeks) and Billy B.
share some tips on how to choose the most flattering shades along with product recommendations.

Kari Hill, L’Oréal Paris Consulting Hair Colorist

Tip: Instead of using the face, I look at the forearm to determine a more precise and unaffected matching of skin tone. When choosing hair color, in addition to skin tone, you should also consider your natural eye color, present choice of makeup, desired maintenance/upkeep and the time of year.

Cool haircolor tones look best on skin with cool undertones, which can be blue or pink on fair skin to even an olive undertone for darker. On fair skin, L’Oréal Paris Mousse Absolue in Lightest Icy Blonde ($14.99- below) or Feria Absolute Platinum ($9.99- below) typically look great. For darker skin, consider L’Oréal Paris Mousse Absolue Icy Dark Brown ($14.99- below) or Superior Preference Luminere Black Sapphire ($9.99)

Warm haircolor tones look best on skin with golden or yellow undertones, regardless of dark or light skin. Some at-home hair color options that look good on warm skin tones include, L’Oréal Paris Mousse Absolue Lightest Golden Blonde ($14.99), L’Oréal Paris Excellence Crème Medium Golden Blonde($8.99) or L’Oréal Paris Feria Dark Gold Blonde ($9.99).

Neutral toned haircolor is the closest tone that could complement a wide variety of skin tones. I liken a neutral color to the tone of a child’s hair. Here are some haircolor options for accommodating varied skin tones: L’Oréal Paris Mousse Absolute Pure Dark Blonde ($14.99), Feria Very Light Natural Blonde ($9.99) or Superior Preference Natural Blonde.

Tom Bachik, L’Oréal Paris Global Nail Artist

Tip: When choosing nail shades, keep it simple and think in warm or cool tones. The easiest way is to look on the underside of your arms. If your veins are mostly purple in tone, then you’re more cool skin toned. If your veins are mostly greenish in tone, then you’re more warm skin toned. Another tip – think about the colors you like to wear and the same palette will likely work for nail shades.

For cool skin tones look at rich berries (L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Nail in Violet Vixen -below), deep purples (L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Nail in Paparazzi Pleaser) and Bright Blues (L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Nail in Not a Cloud in Sight-below).

For warm skin tones, I like burnt reds (L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Nail in Red Tote, $5.99), warm dusty rose tones (L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Nail in Spice Things Up, $5.99- below) and rich corals (L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Nail in Tangerine Crush, $5.99- below).

Billy B., L’Oréal Paris Consulting Makeup Artist

Tip: When it comes to choosing a good lip color, I not only look at skin tone, but also pay attention to eye color, hair color and what my clients are wearing.
Generally, I used the below guidelines for skin tone and lipsticks.

Olive – nudes (L’Oréal Paris Extraordinaire by Colour Riche in Nude Ballet, $9.99- below) pinks, oranges (L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Lipcolour in Volcanic, $8.95) and reds (L’Oréal Paris Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stain in Endless Red, $9.99- below)

Fair – bold shades in pink and red (L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Balm Pop in Bold Blush and Fiery Red, $7.99 each-below)

Darker skin tones – Bold, rich colors like burgundy, browns (L’Oréal Paris Infallible Never Fail Lipcolour Compact, $11.99) berry colors (L’Oréal Paris Infallible Le Rouge in Enduring Berry, $9.99- below) and deep reds (L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Glossy Balm in Petite Plum, $7.99- below)

P.S.- The L' Oreal Paris Genius apps are, well....GENIUS! HAIR GENIUS, COLOR GENIUS and MAKEUP GENIUS are incredibly fun and helpful to use as the apps allow you to change your look. I especially get a kick out of the Makeup Genius app as I could have not a stitch of makeup on and take pics and look like I am ready to attend a party or have a girls night out on the town. It is simply amazing as it works like a virtual makeover and truly reads your face beforehand.
