ESPY's: Viviscal Goes BTS with Celebrity Stylist Ashley Streicher and Actor Jason Segel

Last night, the ESPYS gathered the who’s who in sports to honor those who had a winning year. Among athletes and sports stars, including Kevin Durant, Victor Cruz, and Maria Sharapova, the red carpet was also littered with A-list celebs, including Cameron Diaz, Jessica Alba, Jeff Bridges and host of the evening, Drake.

So what kind of preparation went into getting the perfect ESPY’s red carpet look? Viviscal went behind the scenes to get the details with celebrity stylist and men’s groomer, Ashley Streicher, who took the charge of tending to presenter and star of the new movie, Sex Tape, Jason Segel.

“Men’s hair and skin is different than a woman's, so it's important that they are using products to fit their needs. Instead of just rading their girlfriend's medicine cabinet, consistency is key, which is why it’s so important to get started on products that make a difference.

When I started Jason’s hair tonight, we actually began with a cut. Not too much, just a little trim, taking it in on the sides more and leaving the top long. The shape of his hair was achieved with scissors, not clippers, which allows it to fall more naturally and creates a desirable texture. With the "gentlemen's hair" that's so popular right now it needs to have movement. You want to avoid the "helmut" look or something that requires a lot of upkeep and time.

I slightly dampened his hair with V76 by VAUGN ultra light grooming spray, which I sprayed directly to the roots and pulled out to the ends. It moisturizes the scalp and also adds a bit of volume, acting as a primer for the style. I then emulsified V76 by VAUGHN Texture Paste into my hands and started working it into the hair from the back. Always start from the back, I think most people tend to apply from the front and then the product can be too heavy and make the hair look greasy. I used my Y.S PARK comb (a comb not a brush, a brush will make the hair appear TOO done, you just want the hair to look maintained) to help create surface streamlining.”

Let’s keep in mind that Jason has a ton of hair, so when asked how to achieve this look for people who aren't naturally blessed in that arena, Ashley went on to note “I would go about creating the style a little differently. For a male client with thinner hair, I would work product in dry. When hair is wet and more sparse and you apply product, the hair tends to stick together and become piecey in an undesirable way. Instead, you want to utilize the landscape that you have so that it’s fuller throughout the surface of the scalp. I would also recommend using light weight products like dry shampoo and dry texturizing spray, because gels and heavy greasy pomades will work against you. Viviscal Hair and Scalp Serum, Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray and Hanz de Fuko Quicks are really great to create and give the appearance of fullness. Other things I would suggest are the Viviscal Hair Filler Fibers, this stuff is amazing for male and female clients! I directly apply to a part or disperse all over, which gives a truly natural appearance that is almost undetectable, which is really key when covering something as sensitive as hair loss or thinning.

Another popular product that I often recommend and/or hear about people taking is Viviscal Man and Extra Strength Hair Growth Supplements, which have proven that healthy hair really does come from within when taken as directed.”

Viviscal Man, is scientifically formulated to nourish thinning hair and promote existing hair growth from within, Viviscal Man is a 100% drug-free supplement formulated with the exclusive marine complex AminoMar, Zinc, Vitamin C and Flaxseed, a DHT blocker that helps to prevent male pattern baldness.
