Get The Look: Claire Danes' Tresses by Peter Butler for the 2016 Primetime Emmy Awards

“Claire is wearing a gold Schiaparelli dress with a ‘70s and ‘80s vibe on the red carpet today. As she is currently sporting a one-length long bob, we were inspired by Michelle Pfeiffer in Scarface as well as Julie Christie in Shampoo. We want to give a ton of volume and wave to her bob. To start, while her hair is damp, I applied a very small amount of Leonor Greyl Serum de Soie Sublimateurto the very ends of her hair. As she has very fine and highlighted hair, applying it to the last two inches of the hair gives it extra weight to tame flyaways.

Before blow drying, I worked Leonor Greyl Mousse au Lotus Volumatrice into the roots of the hair, then blew it out with a round brush. When the hair was almost completely dried, I sprayed Leonor Greyl Voluforme onto the roots in sections to give the root area extra volume and strength.

Once the hair was completely dried, I set the whole head using a 2-inch barrel curling iron, and let the curls cool while Claire was finishing her makeup.

After the curls were cooled, I brushed the hair out using a mixed bristle brush. I back brushed the hair a little for extra hold. I then sprayed Laque Souple all over, holding the bottle about 8 inches away from her hair, so her hair stays in place through the same.

To finish, I rubbed Leonor Greyl Huile Secret de Beauté on my hands and smoothed it over the top of her hair and the part to tame any flyaways.

We had a great time getting ready and she was extremely happy with the final look. She looked really really beautiful!”

Claire Danes: Get The Look from the 67th annual Emmy Awards

I saw quite a few faux bob's tonight and thought celebrity hairstylist Peter Butler created a wonderful look as he styled lead actress nominee Claire Danes at the 67th annual Emmy Awards in Los Angeles this evening.

“Claire looks beautiful in a deep purple Prada dress tonight. It’s 90 degrees in downtown Los Angeles, so I wanted to pull her hair up. I decided to go for a faux bob, with a late ‘60s/early ‘70s vibe. At first, I envisioned a Grace Kelly Goes to the Beach look, but that style was too rough and raw. We wanted polished and red carpet-ready, so we opted for Grace Kelly Goes to Palm Springs.

I began by blowing her hair out with Leonor Greyl Mousse A Lotus Volumatrice to impart a little lift. I sprayed her roots with Leonor Greyl Voluforme as I curled her hair, then let that cool and set. To make the texture more natural, I brushed out the waves and added Leonor Greyl Eclat Natural to smooth flyaways. I finished by pinning it up and tucking the right side behind her ear.

Right before she walked out the door, I spritzed on a finishing touch of Leonor Greyl Lacque Souple to nail it down. She’s got a golden nude makeup look and elegant hair. As she stepped on the red carpet she said, ‘I feel like I’m going to Bob Hope’s house!’ with a laugh.

With ghd’s patented tri-zone™ technology, I can style hair in less time and create a long lasting curl without having to use a ton of styling products. Next, I created two small pin curls and secured at the nape of her neck using bobby pins which helped create the illusion of a faux bob. Lastly, I curled a section of hair down in the front to frame her face and used a finishing spray to hold the style in place.”

Get The Look: Amber Heard's Tresses

Celebrity hair stylist, Peter Butler, created the modern look of Amber Heard for the Toronto premiere of Danish Girl using Leonor Greyl.

“The Toronto premiere of The "Danish Girl" was a huge success last night!

Amber Heard lit up the red carpet in her Ellie Saab dress and her cascading "Flat Waved" Hair!

I blew out Amber's hair as a rough dry ( No Brush, only my hands) using Leonor Greyl Mousse Au Lotus Volumatrice and adding some Serum de Soi Sublimateuron her damp ends. The serum helps to nourish dry ends and keep hair looking well conditioned.

I used the Leonor Greyl Voluforme in her roots and as a prep to each section before I went over it with a flat iron to create my Flat Waves.

It was a Voluminous and Modern take on a classic Hollywood Glamour Look for the red carpet! Amber Looked Flawless!”

Amber Heard: Get the Look

Celebrity hairstylist Peter Butler used Leonor Greyl products to create the look for Amber Heard for tonight’s red carpet premiere of ‘Magic Mike XXL’.

Tonight, Amber is wearing a low-cut sleeveless dress by Monique Lhuillier. It’s a really beautiful deep purple, amethyst color that’s very Hollywood, so we decided to leave her hair down and do something like a cross between Jerry Hall and Veronica Lake, super sexy for the ‘Magic Mike XXL’ premiere.
I started with her hair damp and applied Leonor Greyl Serum de Soie Sublimateuron the ends. Her ends are highlighted and more delicate so when blown out blonde hair like that can look dry when it’s really not, the serum really helps to keep the hair looking healthy and shiny. Then I applied Mousse au Lotus Volumatrice from the roots to the end and did a full blow dry. To add more volume at the top, I sprayed Voluforme into her roots.
Amber has finer hair, so I used a medium barrel curling iron and created really classic, loose waves set with a side part. I created the curls by first wrapping her hair around the curling iron away from the face in smaller sections for a more spiral curl. Then, after the curls have cooled, I brushed them out with a wide tooth comb to break apart the curls a bit. The look is super classic and glam and that’s who she is.
To lock in the look but keep it so that her hair was still touchable and movable, I finished by misting her whole head with Leonor Greyl Laque Souple. She looks amazing!”

Get The Look: Claire Danes Met Gala 2015

Last night was spectacular and Peter Butler created a beautiful look on Claire Danes' tresses. My friend Matin did Claire's makeup which shall be in a separate posts using NARS cosmetics. I have been a long time fan of all three!

For the China-themed MET Gala this year, Claire is wearing a Valentino dress that is a deep bottle green, really beautiful, delicate and quite formal.  So, we thought for her hair she needed to look more comfortable and cool.  The look is simple, but still chic and elegant – rough and finished at the same time.

I first began by towel drying her hair and blow-drying it roughly with my hands to get most of the moisture out.  Then I separated her hair into sections and took about 4 handfuls of Leonor Greyl Mousse au Lotus Volumatrice and applied it from scalp to ends and then sprayed Voluformethrough the top sections into the roots.  After spraying the roots, I took the Leonor Greyl Wide Tooth Comb and combed her hair from the roots up and back straight up off the face.  I created a low side part on the right and pushed it into place, then let the look set.

I went back with the blow dryer and rough dried the rest of her hair with my fingers to get the remaining moisture out.  While it was drying, I added a bit more Voluformeas needed when I thought it looked too “clean” since we wanted the look to have purpose and direction.  Once done, I went back with Leonor Greyl Sérum de Soie Sublimateur to break up the look and give it a little more shine and finish.

The focus of her look tonight was really all on the hairline – lifting it up and off the face.  The combination of the Mousse au Lotus Volumatrice and Voluforme at the roots really made the look.  The mousse is conditioning and gives a lot of body while the Voluforme really gets into the roots to give me that lift and hold that I’m looking for so the roots aren’t going to collapse, the volume isn’t going away – it looks subtle, but has really powerful hold.”

2014 EMMY's Look: Claire Danes, Hair by Peter Butler using Leonor Greyl Products

Still watching the show, but wanted to share a look that I loved....

“Claire is wearing a red, Givenchy dress tonight that it a bit low in the front with crystal dragonfly jewels around the neckline. It is such a focal point that we wanted the hair up, and since there is something romantic about the dress , I wanted to do a braid. We did a soft, low side-part, with her hair away from the face and left pieces framing her face and covering her ears.

I started with her hair damp and ran the Leonor Greyl Mousse au Lotus Volumatrice all through her hair and then blow dried it up and away from her face using a large, round brush. To give more volume and direction to the roots, I went back in with the Voluforme and sprayed it around the face and hairline while blowing it out.

Next, I pulled her hair into a low ponytail using a bungee elastic with hooks on the end to secure it in place. Then, I created a fishtail braid and pulled it out to make it a bit wider and sprayed it with a generous amount of Leonor Greyl Laque Souple to give it texture while still keeping it structured.

I pinned the fishtail braid into a low chignon which I redid three times, but the third time was the charm! I fit it until it was situated just right to exhibit the texture of the braid as strongly as possible. I made sure she was standing while I pinned the braid into place to get a better idea of what it would look like throughout the night.“
