SOMETHING GOLD HAS ARRIVED: PAT MCGRATH LAUNCHES FIRST EVER PRODUCT IN THE MIDDLE OF HISTORIC PARISIAN GARDENS DURING FASHION WEEK

TODAY, 9/30/15; iconic artist and fashion visionary Pat McGrath today launched her first ever product; Gold 001 and I am over the moon about it's versatility! Pat is one of my all-time favorite MUA's so I was delighted to hear of this launch. I find her work colorful, creative and unpredictable which takes true genius talent.

The launch event was attended by a collection of the world’s most in-demand models including Hailey Baldwin, Bella Hadid and Stella Maxwell, photographed by legend Patrick Demarchelier with the event supported by Vogue and Instagram with it’s new Head of Fashion Partnerships; Eva Chen.

The launch event took place in the beautiful Jardins des Tuileries forming an impromptu and unusual launch moment for Paris Fashion Week with models and celebrities gathering to have their faces adorned with Pat’s precious and innovative product. Other names that attended included Kris Jenner & Corey Gamble, Isabeli Fontana, Lily Donaldson, Issa Lish, Cindy Bruna, Fei Fei Sun, Imaan Hammam, Daria Strokous, Sasha Luss, Riley Montana, Ophelie Guillermand, Anais Mali, Hana Jirickova, and Paloma Elsesser.

Considered a true pioneer and trend-setter within both fashion and beauty, Pat McGrath’s first eponymous product will be one of the most highly anticipated launches of 2016. The product has had the most auspicious debut; on the runway at the most recent Prada show during Milan Fashion Week no less and celebrity support from the likes of Kim Kardashian (photographed in the product for her Violet Grey shoot).

The product itself will be part of a limited edition run of 1000 and will be usable to accentuate eyes, lips and skin with blinding luminosity. The packaging advises its user that it “causes a heightened sense of confidence and a potential overdose of glamour”. Pat McGrath says “Gold 001 is a one off revolutionary highly malleable formula – there is something magnificent about its pure form that leaves me breathless”. The product will be available later this month at patmcgrath.com

Pat McGrath Transforms Kim Kardashian West into Elizabeth Taylor's Cleopatra of the Future

Pat McGrath transforms Kim Kardashian West into Elizabeth Taylor’s Cleopatra for The Violet Files and I couldn't be more delighted! Words could not describe how much I admire Pat McGrath's work. She is a risk taker, colorful by nature and I love how she translates her creative vision into works of art!

On the latest cover of The Violet Files, the editorial site of Hollywood insider and beauty guru Cassandra Grey, Kim Kardashian West is transformed into the iconic Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra through the artistry and makeup design by Pat McGrath.

“I would have done anything—I would have trusted Pat’s vision no matter what she wanted—but I was really excited that it was the Cleopatra vibe,” says Kim Kardashian West of the collaboration with makeup artist Pat McGrath.

“Elizabeth Taylor’s makeup in Cleopatra has been re-created countless times, but for Kim I wanted to create an interpretation that has never been done before, a futuristic 3D version,” Ms. McGrath explains. “I wanted to portray a luxurious decadence by using elements of ornate facial jewelry constructed into shapes that pay homage to Egyptian culture, and of course to the rich exotic character that Taylor portrayed in this role.”

“Her eyeshadow was made from ground lapis stone and gold pyrite flecks,” notes Ms. McGrath. “Incorporating three-dimensional gold metal into the makeup design explores the concept of makeup as jewelry. I wanted the images to be luxurious, evoking a modern take on the opulence associated with Cleopatra’s makeup.”

The images, shot by Ben Hassett, are the first installment in a series for VIOLET GREY in which Ms. McGrath will reimagine paragons of old Hollywood glamour with new faces.
