Get The Look: Kata Mara

Celebrity makeup artist Coleen Campbell-Olwell prepped movie star Kate Mara for a gala fêteing The Martian at the Toronto International Film Festival on Friday using Orlane products.

“Kate’s sporting a structured gold Valentino dress tonight, so we went for dramatic, deep burgundy lips and balanced the look with fresh, glowing skin. It was actually her idea to do a statement lip, and I agreed— tonight wasn’t the night for nude.

I started by hydrating her skin, which is the foundation of the look. It’s important to treat the complexion first, so I massaged in the Orlane Anti-Aging Oxygenation System to awaken her skin and get her glowing. Then I layered on Orlane Super-Moisturizing Light Cream, which is a staple in my kit.

Kate’s skin is gorgeous, so just a bit of the Orlane Teint Absolu Treatment Foundation #11 evens out her tone. It’s got this amazing velvety texture that isn’t too heavy. To make her cheekbones pop, I swirled on Antonym Blush in Copper along her contours. It’s like a mosaic, and I find it has the perfect amount of gold, peach and rose pigments.

We kept her eyes simple. I tapped gold shadow over her lids and filled in her brows with the Dior Browstyler in Universal Brown. I finished by applying two coats of Orlane Volume Care Mascara on her both top and bottom lashes. This really opens up the eye area.

For the focal point of the look, we chose to accentuate her lips with a bold color. I prepped her pout with Orlane Magnificent Lip Balm. After letting that sit a few minutes, I added more to make her lips soft and supple. Then I brushed on MAC Cosmetics Lipstick in Sin, and lined her lips with Votre Vu Draw-Matic Lipliner in Sizzler to seal in the color and keep it from migrating.

In anticipation of the camera lights, I finished with a dusting of Orlane Poudre Libre Transparent Loose Powder over her T-zone. It doesn’t make the skin look dry or matte, it simply takes away the shine. She looked gorgeous and sophisticated, and the look really suited her amazing dress.”

Get the Look: Felicity Jones

Celebrity makeup artist Sabrina Bedrani used Orlane products to create the look for Felicity Jones for the red carpet premiere of ‘The Theory of Everything’ tonight.

“Felicity is wearing a black gown with the top and bottom in lace, so we wanted to create a look that was more edgy with a strong smokey eye – not too romantic as to contrast the lace.

I started by applying the Orlane Absolute Skin Recovery Care Anti-Fatigue Serum to her skin.  This serum was perfect for today because we’ve been doing press for 4 days and with having makeup on and off, on and off, the skin can get a little dull.  Right after applying this serum, I felt the skin plumping up and the makeup went on so much smoother.  I followed by applying the Super-Moisturizing Light Cream and then while the skin was absorbing it all, I began working on her eyes.

I applied Pale Gold from Antonym Eyeshadow Quattro in Noisette all over her lid.  Then I took Moiré from Votre Vu Palette Play in Violette and applied that on the outer corner of the eye and blended it inward so less color would be towards the inner corner to create that gorgeous gradient effect.  Taking Black from Antonym Eyeshadow Quattro in Croisette, I concentrated on the outer corner and blended inward again, stopping just shy of the purple shade.  Then, taking a clean brush I blended the crease out so there was no harsh lines.  Next, I lined the top and bottom of her eyes with Antonym Ecocert Certified Natural Waterproof Eye Pencil in Noir and smudged it out.  I finished off her eyes with two coats of Orlane Volume Care Mascara.

After cleaning up any fall out from shadow under her eyes, I applied Orlane Vitality Radiance Care Eye Contour to hydrate the under eye area.  I used a Dior foundation to even out the skin tone and went back with Orlane Highlight Care Brush under the eyes to clean it up a bit and highlighted a little where needed, like around the nose.  To apply the Highlight Care Brush, I dabbed the product from the applicator onto the back of my hand to remove any excess and then applied directly to her skin going back to pick up product from my hand as needed.  To set the look, I dusted Orlane Transparent Loose Powder all over her face.

To give some color back to the skin and a little more definition, I applied Antonym Ecocert Certified Organic Baked Blush in Peach on the apples of the cheeks and worked the product upward towards the temples.  Next, I applied a bit of Orlane Bronzer in Soleil Cuivre 02 underneath the cheekbones using Antonym Contour Brush #3.

Since the eyes were the main focus of the look, we kept her lips natural.  I first moisturized her lips with Orlane Extreme Line-Reducing Lip Care for the base and then applied the lipstick on top.”

EMMY Looks: Robin Wright

Celebrity makeup artist Tricia Sawyer created the look for Robin Wright for last nights Emmys Awards using Orlane products.

“Robin is wearing a custom-made Ralph Lauren gown tonight that has a 40s feel with a 70s flair, so we kept her look along that vein.  She doesn’t like to wear a lot of makeup, so the focus was really on the skin.  Prepping her skin and giving it a healthy glow was hugely important.

I began by applying Orlane Super-Moisturizing Light Cream to her skin with a sponge and pressing it into her skin, concentrating a lot under the eyes.  Then I went back with the Absolute Skin Recovery Care Eye Contour and applied that under her eyes as well.  Your skin gets so stressed out going through these events that keeping it really moisturized is key to having the makeup last all night.  With that said, it can’t be too oily or greasy; these two products have a very wearable, lovely consistency that work well with having makeup applied over them.

For her foundation, we went very light with Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua and concealer.  Then I powdered her face with Orlane Transparent Loose Powder using a brush and concentrating on the T-Zone.  I really like this powder in particular because it’s so finely milled so it doesn’t give a powdery effect, it just takes the shine away which is perfect for the red carpet.

I used Orlane Bronzer to contour her face with a small angled blush brush, running it along her jawline and the hollows of her cheeks.  Then I dusted Chanel blush in Rose Bronze and In Love on her cheekbones.

To really make her eyes pop, I used Mac eyeliner in Power Surge and then Orlane Volume Care Mascara.  I applied one coat of mascara, and then individual lashes, and then went back with another coat of mascara.  This mascara is great because it doesn’t flake at all which is super important.”

ORLANE Paris: Aqua Svelte Slimming Scrub with Algae and Sea Salt

This shower gel not only smells delightful but is said to fight visible cellulite both quickly and effectively. How could I pass up the chance to reduce cellulite?!

ORLANE Paris created Aqua Svelte Slimming Scrub with Algae and Sea Salt ( $ 65) to exfoliate, detoxify and slim targeted cellulite areas of your body. It removes dead cells from the surface and it's active ingredients include microspheres, caffeine, ginger essential oil and marine algae.

When this products come into contact with water, it releases it's exfoliating particles and it's purifying, slimming ingredients. Invigorating marine notes contribute to the hydrotherapy effect as well. It's quick and easy to use and a small portion goes a long way.

It is recommended to be used with the principals of hydrotherapy which means taking an energetic massage under hot water, followed by a cold water rinse to tone skin and prolong the effects of active ingredients. I have used this approach for many years as it supposedly helps your hair color from fading quickly and also aids in your body's circulation.

This is certainly a progressive shower gel! Ready for purchase at ORLANE.
